About us

Roy Krøvel

is a civil engineer with a degree in marine projects, currently a professor of journalism at OsloMet with PhD in History. Krøvel coordinates a NORHED-funded PhD program for Indigenous Universities in Latin America and an INTPART program that brings together PhD candidates from Norway, South Africa, Brazil, and the United States. Krøvel also coordinates a newly funded UTFORSK project with partners in Africa and Latin America. His research focuses on environmental journalism, Indigenous journalism, and the integration of AI in journalism. Krøvel’s extensive experience in managing and evaluating multinational projects, coupled with his background in environmental risk assessment, provides him with a unique multidisciplinary perspective.

Mona Thowsen

brings a background of leadership and strategic development of transparency and governance initiatives as the former Director and Chair of Publish What You Pay Norway (PWYP Norway), a worldwide network promoting accountability in the extractive industries nationally and internationally. Thowsen has been involved in international multi-stakeholder initiatives such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) and the Open Government Partnership (OGP), and leading interdisciplinary teams globally as well as developing capacity building projects with partners in Africa and Latin-America. She is also co-author of the book “Making Transparency Possible” and digital course “Follow the Money”.
